The Bab showing is located approximately 2 kilometres east of the north end of Babine Lake, on the Bab 131 claim.

Lithologies in the area comprise green, maroon and purple tuff and volcanic breccia of the Lower Jurassic Telkwa Formation (Hazelton Group). Hornblende biotite feldspar porphyries of the Eocene Babine Intrusions are present in the area.

Pyrite, chalcopyrite, sericite and secondary biotite are reported to occur in a narrow northwest-trending shear in fresh rock.

Mapping rock sampling and were completed in 1992 by Quintana Minerals Corporation, at which time the mineralized shear was discovered. In 1973 a total of 40.9 line-kilometres of induced polarization surveying was completed by Quintana.

In 1981, a field program consisting of line-cutting, geology, soil geochemistry, ground magnetometer and reconnaissance induced polarization surveys were conducted by Noranda Exploration Company Limited on the Lake Mineral claims. Parts of claims Lake 5, 6, 7 and 8 cover the Bine and LB45 claim groups that Noranda held in 1991-92

In 1990 and 1991, Noranda Exploration Company Limited undertook another extensive exploration program including an airborne geophysical survey and ground follow-up work of prospecting through to diamond drilling. The IP survey outlined two, broad, weak to moderatly anomalous coincident resistivity and chargeability anomalies. A single drill hole was collared about 1 km east of the original 1973 Bab showing found by Quintana. The 1991 drillhole was done in order to test one of these anomalies, and results demonstrated the IP anomaly was caused by a moderate propylitically altered diorite containing trace to 2% disseminated of pyrite and chalcopyrite. Mineralization occurs sporadically but was more concentrated near the top of the hole between core lengths 42.76 m and 60.67 metres.
